Look Ma, No Stampin! and some blog candy for you

I finally got my stamping room cleaned up yesterday and had some time to put a card together. I've had these grungeboard letters that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist for several months and finally decided to use them on a card. Here's the deets on this card. The card base is Pink Pirouette and I also used Bravo Burgundy and Georgia Pacific White. The patterned paper is from the BasicGrey Eva collection. I also used a BasicGrey rubon from the Euphoria Olio collection on the white piece. I added a tiny bit of highlighting with a clear Spica glitter pen on the rubon to match the shimmer of the grungeboard letters. Since I glimmered the letters so long ago, I can't remember for sure which Glimmer Mist color I used. I'm not sure if it was Kiwi or Seafoam or both of them layered on each other. Finally, I finished it up with a few buttons from the Making Memories Rouge Paperie Blossom and Button Box that I was completely enabled to buy because of Kristina Werner's last MACM post on her blog. So, this was a super easy card and I really like it. My only bummer is that I cut the inside piece of DP slightly too small but was too lazy to do it over--the UCLA Pac-10 opener was starting and I wanted to watch it with dh :-)

But that's not all! Since I cleaned up my room, I found a few things that I've had for awhile that I haven't used that need to find a home that will show them some love. Simple Grungy Card

The kids have a birthday party to attend every weekend so far and this is the card that I made for ds to give to his friend. I was inspired by a card that I'd seen in Cards Magazine but it went in a little bit of a different direction. There's very little stamping on this one but it did take a little bit of time.

The card base is Pumpkin Pie and the patterned paper is from BasicGrey's Archaic Collection. The focal image is sprayed with Crem de Chocolat Glimmer Mist and then dried with my heat tool since I'm impatient. I stamped the sentiment from SU's They Say it's Your Birthday which is soon to be retired with Ranger Black Soot Distress Ink. The brackets are grungeboard and are painted with a Terra Cota acrylic paint dabber and then lightly sponged with Black Soot Distress ink. All edges of the card and each piece of paper is also sponged with Black Soot Distress ink. There's a row of piercing below the sentiment but you can't see it in this picture. Voila--done! This card is really different from most cards I make but I really love this paper and just wanted to let it take center stage.

Playing with Grungeboard

So, I made this the other night while dh was at his basketball game. It's a little different for me but I like it.

The cardbase is PapertreyINK . I used Cut 'n Dry foam pads to sponge on a variety of Distress inks. I started out sponging on Antique Linen and Tattered Rose and then added some Fired Brick. I set it aside to dry since the Distress inks are really wet and juicy. I then took my Grungeboard skull and sponged on Black Soot. I popped the eyes out and then embossed the skull with Crystal Clear embossing powder. I attached it to the card front and then filled in the eyeholes with Crystal Effects. I put Crystal Effects on the eyes and set them aside. I took a piece of Kraft cardstock and crumpled it up and then sponged on Fired Brick Distress ink. I distressed the edges and edged them with Black Soot. I used my Cutter Bugz to pierce holes around this piece and in the top corner of the card and faux stitched it first with a Black Copic Spica glitter pen and then with a Black Glaze pen when I decided the glitter pen wasn't dark enough. I stamped the sentiment from MissyB Designs on this piece and added 3 clear Making Memories rhinestones brads. They were a little too sparkly so I sponged on some Black Soot to dirty them up a little. I took the sponged and randomly rubbed it on some parts of the card base as well to add some black highlights and then added the eyeballs as accents on the side.

I like the way this turned out and can't wait to play some more with my Grungeboard, especially since I picked up some Crackle paint and Distress embossing powder earlier today :-)

Grungeboard, Part 2

Ok, I lucked out and got grungeboard at my LSS. I have the most amazing LSS that I go to in Berkeley and since I'm mobile during the day and visit a lot of school sites, it's easy to pop in occasionally.

I did play with mine a little bit last night and it's pretty darn cool. I finished up late so I didn't take a pic and hopefully can get a decent one when I get home to show you. I got the Grungeboard elements in swirls and think I'm gonna have to get an alphabet as well. . . and some Distress Crackle Paint, Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers, more Distress inks, Distress Embossing Powder. . . .oh, and maybe some Alcohol inks, too :-)
