Mojolicious Friend

This sketch came from Julee Tillman's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love the sketch Julee posted and think I might play with it some more.

I love pink and brown and decided to make a pink and brown sparkly card. The card base is Close to Cocoa. The pink layer is from the Berry Bliss DSP which I absolutely adore!!!!!! The colors in this paper are so pretty and feminine without being over the top girly. I stamped the swirls from Pollen Dust by Fancy Pants Designs in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate on the pink paper. The heart is from the same set and is stamped with Brilliance Pearlescent Crimson on Close to Cocoa cardstock and cut out. I colored in some areas with my pink Copic Spica Glitter pen and then added some Amuse Micro Twinkle stickers to the flowers and dots. Wonderful from Wonderful Favorites is stamped on Very Vanilla with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate and friend from the same set is stamped with Versamagic Pixie Dust. This strip is layered on Purely Pomegranate but then I didn't like the way all the colors went together so I liberally sponged the pomegranate and vanilla strips with Brilliance Pearlescent Crimson. Then I lightly sponged the pink piece with the same ink. I attached this to the card base and then attached the heart with dimensionals. Here's a little close up of the heart so you can see the sparkle!

This card also fits perfectly with my SBS3 sister Denise's Weekly Challenge which is Friendship.

Ok, I've decided to unload my old retired In-Colors and my Marvy punches so off to take some pics and get them posted on the SCS BST boards and Ebay :-)

JAN08VSNQ ~ Packing the Purse

I wanted to participate in VSN this go around. Fridays are hard because I drop off my oldest so he can see his dad. Traffic is horrible and by the time I get home, I just want to chill. We had a birthday party today and that took up most of the day. I did manage to get a challenge done and here ya go!

The challenge is Packing the Purse and I have to do all of this and nothing more:

Stamps:
1 flower or other botanical
1 sentiment stamp
1 background stamp

Ink:
any

Paper:
3 different colors of cardstock (neutrals count as a color!)
2 different patterned papers

Tools: (use at least one)
cuttlebug
paper piercer
punches
sponge
distresser

Embellishments: (pick at least 3 different kinds of embellies for your card)

thread
ribbon
eyelets
brads
spiral clips
bling

Here's what I did:

Stamps:
Pollen Dust by Fancy Pants Designs for the flower/botanical
Warm Words for the Sentiment
Sanded for the Background

Ink:
Versamagic: Wheat, Malted Mauve, Perfect Plumeria, Hint of Pesto, Niagra Mist, Midnight Black
SU: Bravo Burgundy

Paper:
Basic Gray
Bravo Burgundy
Very Vanilla
2 different prints from Cosmo Cricket's Wonderland

Tools:
Cutter Tool
Cutterbee Piercing Bugs

Embellishments:
Kraft Taffeta Ribbon
Pewter Jumbo Eyelets
Stickles--Gunmetal and Burgundy
Liquid Pearls--Pewter

In hindsight, I would have traded River Rock for the Basic Gray and that was my original intent but I didn't do it and time was ticking away :-)

Sunday Stamping

Dd took a late nap today so I got to play in between folding laundry. I got the Pollen Dust by Fancy Pants Designs set at my LSS with my store credit for doing make and takes. I'm glad that I got the money off. This set is ginormous and gorgeous!!!!! I'm really not a vintagey/collagey type of stamper so this is something a little different from me. The card base is Old Olive and the next layer is a piece of BasicGrey paper from the Perhaps 6X6 pad I have. I stamped some of the flourishy images with Versamagic Tea Leaves on this piece of paper. The focal image is Whisper White and the inks used are Versamagic Tea Leaves, Gingerbread, Eggplant, Brick Red, Purple Hydrangea, Wheat, and Sahara Sand (for sponging the edges) as well as Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate. I stickled the heart after dabbing it with the point of the Red Brick and the centers of some of the flowers. I mounted this on Vintage Violet and distress the very bottom edge of this piece. I tied olive organdy ribbon and copper cord around this and mounted it to the front on foam squares.

All in all, I'm not 100% thrilled. I like it but it's not quite got that Wow thing going for me. I'll take any and all constructive criticism since I really, really think this is a gorgeous set and want to make it work for me.
